Eleazar ben Parta

Eleazar ben Parta
(fl. 2nd cent)
   Palestinian tanna. He was one of the sages arrested by the Romans for contravening Hadrian's decree forbidding the public teaching of Torah and observance of the commandments. Although the offence carried the death penalty, he was miraculously delivered from execution.
